100 Stockton, San Francisco

SITE: The Macy’s Mens Store was a standalone building, with limited windows, disconnected from other shopping destinations in Union Square. The project is in the final stages of construction.

BRIEF: The project entailed an adaptive reuse of the 7 floor building aimed at bringing visitors and shoppers to a new contemporary destination in San Francisco’s luxury shopping district. The ownership group was keen to introduce office space on the upper levels further attracting businesses and improving the value of the real estate asset.

DESIGN: An urban mixed use program of luxury retail, class A office space, with public amenity spaces is stacked along 7 floors. The original concrete and stone walls are replaced with clear glazing and terracotta panels fully activating the facades facing Stockton Street and O’Farrell Street. The mid-century bunker like building is opened up to the city and vibrant life of the neighborhood.
