Acne Studios, San Francisco
SITE: The streetscape possesses buildings that together create an architectural and environmental quality which contributes to the beauty of San Francisco. The brick building used to house three different shops in the heart of the City’s retail and tourist sectors.
BRIEF: The Stockholm-based luxury fashion house wished to establish their first retail store in the City. The exterior scheme had to meet the characteristics of the Kearny-Market-Mason-Sutter Conservation District. The interior scheme had to reflect the brand’s philosophy.
DESIGN: The flagship merges the industrial vernacular of the West with Scandinavian minimalism. Taking its color from the Golden Gate Bridge, the storefront is rooted in place and context. The art gallery-like shopfront is intriguing to passersby, and invites shoppers to explore the space inside.
